[Let's Build] Attractions in a demon pleasure palace that aren't sexual

My players are going to be visiting the palace of a demon lord of pleasure who's more CN than CE. I want to show that despite his title, he represents all forms of pleasure and good feelings, not just sex. Also space in his realm doesn't work the same way as it does in the mortal plane. He essentially has an infinite amount of space to work with and can customize it as he pleases, so there are no size constraints.
  1. A casino to feel the thrill of gambling.
  2. A dining hall with an endless buffet that visitors are allowed to eat as much as they wish.
  3. An idyllic beach with perfectly white sand to relax or play on.
  4. An arena where gladiators brawl it out against each other. The point of it isn't to kill each other as much as make the battles look stunning to the audience.
  5. A hotel with the most comfortable beds possible. Here anyone with enough money can enjoy a good rest after all the excitement.
  6. A beautiful and well tended garden filled with aromatic flowers and sweet fruits.
  7. A vineyard where exquisitely-aged wine can be produced just by pressing the grapes. (u/_SovietMudkip_)
  8. A petting zoo full of the babies of dangerous creatures. (u/_SovietMudkip_)
  9. An opulent concert hall where the best musicians of the realms perform (u/_SovietMudkip_)
  10. A small, cozy looking wooden library, with a cushioned bay window where rain gently scatters against the glass and a cup of some hot liquid gently rising with steam. (u/QuietOracle)
  11. An owl-bear hugging zoo. Go to sleep in the embrace of their soft down. (u/QuietOracle)
  12. The room of sensory experiences. The room itself is fairly plain, with the main feature being long tables running the length of the room. On closer inspection there are fist-sized carved holes, each one holding a small round crystal... (u/QuietOracle)
  13. A room with dozens of sacks filled with beans, lentils and grains where visitors can put their hands in and let the contents run through their fingers. (u/_WhiteCubeCat_)
  14. A hag (or any other long nailed creature) giving visitors a scalp massage. (u/_WhiteCubeCat_)
  15. A museum of little-known or long-forgotten art pieces, sculptures, and history. (u/MoonlightMancer)
  16. A festival full of colors, music, and drinks. Everyone seems to love you, and you can’t stop laughing. (u/MoonlightMancer)
  17. A hallway of endless doors. In each room is someone you know, complimenting you endlessly, sharing every positive, even begrudgingly jealous thought they ever had about you. (u/MoonlightMancer)
  18. A room full of bubble wrap. (u/EmmaDrake)
  19. A hot spring/spa, with fluffy towels, those showers that are like rain with perfect water pressure, mud baths, and refreshing food and drink. (u/lionesslindsey)
  20. A room full of people that constantly give you validation and laugh at all your jokes. (u/CountryJeff)
  21. Never-ending line of gold chalices, crystal vases, silver artwork, and other valuables. (u/PutridMeatPuppet)
  22. People who are “better” than you are marched in a stripped of their superior qualities. Beautiful people are disfigured and turned ugly. Wealthy powerful people are ruined and made to beg you for pennies. (u/PutridMeatPuppet)
  23. Mass groups of people enter the room and tell you how they admire you and how wonderful you are. They stroke your ego and inflate your pride. (u/PutridMeatPuppet)
  24. Servants do everything for you. Feed you, give you drinks, wash you, wipe your arse, etc. (u/PutridMeatPuppet)
  25. You are given a wickedly barbed leather whip. A slave creature is bound to a post and you can whip this creature to inflict your wrath upon them as much as you desire. If the poor soul dies, another is brought in to replace them. (u/PutridMeatPuppet)
  26. 'Knight for a day'. The full experience; lance, shiny outfit, a squire, a trusty stead, a dragon and a princess/prince to rescue. (u/mr_earthman)
  27. The magical equivalent of a holo deck (u/cyber-viper)
  28. Wide, flat plain with the fastest vehicles in the multiverse (a good place to use the Avernus vehicles) (u/Clickclacktheblueguy)
  29. A selection of cities and villages for you to destroy with war machines or your own magic. (u/Clickclacktheblueguy)
  30. A collection of wand that allow you to test out powerful magic. (u/Clickclacktheblueguy)
  31. A magical version of a movie theatre, allowing you to watch all manner of stories, true and legendary. (u/Clickclacktheblueguy)
  32. A moderately large pool where small battleships with tiny animated crewmen can be deployed in teams to shell and board each other for the audience's amusement. Honored guests can put their strategic abilities to a test against other players by directly giving orders to their ships, and in certain hours guests may even swim in the pool to live out the power fantasy of being a sea monster. (u/VIixIXine)
  33. A colorizer-device that transforms any clothes/armoweapons/other gear to any desired hue you wish (as long as it doesn’t affect the workings of the gear) (u/PaigeOrion)
  34. A grand screen, showing a nearly infinite number of (screen)plays from all space and time, including the show with the disgraced human paladin delivering a green baby gnome back to his home land through incredible odds. (u/PaigeOrion)
  35. A tiara that allows you to experience the sensory experience of a black cat as long as you wear it and close your eyes. (u/PaigeOrion)
  36. A plethora of small, multicolored blocks that will magically interlock with one another to render almost any architectural structure imaginable. (But don’t step on them barefoot!) (u/PaigeOrion)
  37. A band of musicians who are the perfect musical backup for any performances. Alone, they are more low key, but no less skilled, playing haunting melodies of unknown origin. (u/PaigeOrion)
  38. A massive walk-in closet where you can try in any clothes in any fashion you like. (u/Tezla44)
  39. A "schadenfreude" theatre, with shows that rely on slapstick and cringe comedy. (u/Martinus_XIV)
  40. A REALLY good chocolate fountain (u/BrokenBanette)
  41. A room designed to give you closure. When you enter this room, someone you loved and lost is there, sitting in a couch. The room feels vaguely familiar, but you can't place why. If Detect Magic is used, the room is full of magic (divination, transmutation, illusion) but the person seems like a normal person. You can chat with them for as long as you like. They behave just as you remember them, with the good and the bad. (u/ohsurenerd)
  42. A theatre performing the most magnificent tragedies. When you watch the performance, you find yourself completely enraptured: you cheer when things go right, scream when something terrifying happens, and moan and weep at the inevitable horrible ending. When you leave, it feels like removing a backpack full of lead that you'd been carrying for so long you'd forgotten it was there. (u/ohsurenerd)
  43. A room where there's a button, there's someone outside and it explains that if you enter there's a 50/50 chance of you dying or not, the room won't actually kill you and it's there just to make you feel the pleasure of near death experience. (u/SupremeGodDictator)
  44. A massage parlor with the universes best staff pampering your every need as you receive the most relaxing massage of your life whether it be scalp, back, foot, full body, etc. Has the worlds fluffiest towels and robes to luxuriate in while you wait or if you simply want to sit in a comfy chair and enjoy your ache free muscles. (u/Blue_Mando)
  45. An arena where you and your opponents heal near instantly, and you can fight endlessly (u/ellen-the-educator)
  46. A reenactment of your greatest failures in life, but this time they turn into your greatest achievements. (u/CountryJeff)
  47. A room with the world's finest works of art.... and a myriad of implements you can use to destroy them. (u/redrosebeetle)
  48. A torture chamber with mages on hand to create illusions of the people you wish to torture. Or increasingly realistic versions of them, depending on the level of magic you wish to implement. (u/redrosebeetle)
  49. A room full of gold and jewels you can roll around in, ala Scrooge McDuck. But woe betide anyone who tries to take a souvenir.... (u/redrosebeetle)
  50. As you're walking through the gardens, a person comes up to you. They introduce themselves as an adventurer who's also here on a quest. They seem to be the same class as you, and they're incredibly attractive-- almost exactly your type. You immediately click and end up spending the day together, talking about everything and anything. You tell them things you've never told anyone else before. They understand everything you tell them, almost innately, but they're still impressed by your feats and your stories. The two of you find an empty bedroom and close the door behind you. It's perfect in its imperfections. In the morning they're gone. No matter where you look, you can't find them. (u/ohsurenerd)
  51. A room lined with shelves and shelves of bottles and vials containing a crimson liquid flowing slowly (like a syrup), all with small labels on them. As you inspect the labels, you realize they've all got names on them: famous adventurers, kings and queens, great sages. If you drink one, you experience a selection of their memories as they experienced them: battles won, discoveries made, historical alliances and friendships being forged or broken... (u/ohsurenerd)
  52. A room that turns anyone that enters it into a child. It is full of every toy imaginable (u/arual_x)
  53. A tour of a chocolate factory. Kobolds work there, and the owner, who gives the tour, is a Metallic Dragon in Humanoid form. (u/arual_x)
  54. A fortune teller who has a Deck of Many Things with only the good cards. If you in any way offend them, they will sleight of hand vs perception check slip you a bad card instead. (u/arual_x)
  55. An island theme park of reanimated dinosaurs. The owner is a level 20 Necromancer called Hamm Johnand. (u/arual_x)
  56. A Virtual Reality style game that allows you to battle horrible monsters over and over again without risk of injury physical. But still allows you to gain XP... (u/arual_x)
  57. A perfect expanse of thick snowy ground. There is constantly a snowball fight going on. (u/arual_x)
  58. A giant room full of mattresses where everyone immediately gets a wonderful massage. (u/Revanclaw-and-memes)
  59. A room where you get to torture all of your worst enemies (u/Revanclaw-and-memes)

  62. A room full of gold and exquisite things, from beautiful furniture to magic weapons (u/Revanclaw-and-memes)
  63. A seemingly endless room where adventurers can drink a potion to grow wings and flit about to their hearts' delight (u/iriedashur)
  64. An ordinary classroom containing the adventurer's childhood friends, enemies, and their most hated teacher. Upon entering the room, the adventurer discovers that they are invisible, and free to pull pranks as they wish (u/iriedashur)
  65. A brightly colored room piled high with wrapped gifts, large and small, for the adventurers to open endlessly (u/iriedashur)
  66. A purple and black dragon named Ace who cooks you garlic bread and cake. (u/sanorace)

  68. A magical weather room where you can ask for any weather for your pleasure (I love listening to rain) (u/lewiscann)
  69. A room full of lounges with a floating slow burning piece of wood that warms the whole area, the piece of wood is so large you can see the flame spread through this piece of wood forever (u/lewiscann)
  70. A room where you can bite your fingernails and they grow back instantly ( so you can bite them some more )(u/razenastie)
  71. A room with incredibly weakened versions of powerful monsters. (u/Your_InsideMan)

A room that consists of A bunch of mortals so utterly jaded from years of plesure seeking that they need the hardest of drugs and the wildest of sensations to feel anything, with lesser demons feeding on their pursuit of euphoria. Is there any hope?😪

I am a Baritone Opera singer whose been working towards a professional career from day one. I have been through every trial, from low level chorus work all the way through to principal work. I have spent twenty of the best years of my life, and earned both my bachelors and masters of music, in order to pursue my professional goals. I wanted to make the most of my ability to sing opera, by applying for representation, so that I could travel and perform professionally.
I have also faced a great deal of disappointment, however. great enough to make me think that I’ve lost that meaning to my life. I’ve faced being sexually assaulted, being barred from roles because of my eye and hair coloweight, being ostracized by entire groups of singers for no good reason, even being told that my military service was a detriment to my ability to sing. Worst of all, instead of support and alternatives, I’ve dealt with everybody giving “excuses” for the perpetrators of these wrongs.... I’ve never given excuse, I worked for a fair opportunity.
This last year was supposed to be that golden opportunity. you know where you have all your ducks in a row and you’ve done your diligence and You’ve made yourself ready for anything? Well I didn’t pass it up! This last February I was supposed to be in Berlin for an agent audition. In the summer of ‘19, I earned my masters, and went on to a young artist program for a production of “Don Giovanni“. It was an amazing show and I prepared and performed Masetto Until I didn’t even know who I was. But while I was there, I linked up with an agent. I got to sing for him, he was extremely nice, and invited me back for an official audition for his Roster (I had shown that I had what it takes, That all those years of hard work were worth it!!!). So after leaving Germany that summer, I returned home and took a job at a casino to make the money to return, and in the meantime I spent the next six months preparing and studying my music for a real professional audition. When I had achieved the money, I contacted the agency and asked to audition, and they said yes. I Purchased my airline tickets, my mandatory travel insurance, my lodgings, my overseas cellular data plan, And even budgeted for food every day I was to be there, as well as coaching in Frankfurt with a top of the line musician to prepare myself! I had all my ducks in a row and this was supposed to be that one big shot....
The company reneged on the audition, on the agreed time and date, and not Far enough back before I was supposed to fly for me to change my itinerary, so that the agent could somehow go to Spain that week instead! I was stranded in Berlin for that entire week! My coach decided to shirk out on me So I couldn’t travel to Frankfurt. I spent the week trying to find other opportunities in Germany. I was stranded, and out €3000 with nothing…
I contacted other agencies, other companies which had opportunities listed for both principal and chorus roles. I contacted Facebook groups for opera singers I was in to see if they had any opportunities available, Especially since I had seen several posts of people looking for opportunities, and the community being open and helpful in what they could find. I even tried to tap in to my veteran ties, and reach out to the army field band at Graffenwoher air base, To see if they had any connections in the music scene at Germany to whom I might be redirected… I got the cold shoulder from everybody. The few companies in Germany who responded told me they were not looking. Everybody on the Facebook groups started giving the agency excuses and asking Against me, Wondering what I somehow did wrong and discouraging me from pressing for recompense. And instead of opportunities like they had for others, they didn’t offer me or suggest anything, nobody was looking for me. It was as though I had worked for everything myself, and when it all fell through my fingers, nobody wanted to be there to help me back up, and nobody still wants to be there to help!
That being said, my last audition was put off Until November of this year because everybody jumped on Covid, so even though I’ve been broken I tried as best I could to prepare or NYIOP. But then my father had a heart attack about a week and a half before I was supposed to sing. The strain of saving his life, along with how my older brother shrugged it off and disrespected me for the effort, left me now with clinical depression, post traumatic stress syndrome...NYIOP Made its excuse, and rejected me as well. I fucked up on the language in my condition, and when I couldn’t make excuse to them, they made excuse to me and rejected me with it...
I am asking if there is any hope, because Opera Music over the years has become the meaning to my life. It has given meaning to my life. And now that I’m older, I don’t think I could continue living, if that opportunity I’ve worked for passes me up because it was taken away, both by bad luck and by covid. I’ve tried to exist as best I could. I tried taking up the courses in computer programming As an alternate skill... but I’m nowhere near as happy as I was whenever I was on the stage. I’m asking if anyone here knows of any real professional opportunities left for me. It’s not like I haven’t been on YapTracker or Audition Oracle, otherwise I wouldn’t be asking. Please 😭 I’m begging you!

Weird question, how do you perfer to shuffle your deck?

So most tarot decks i find are pretty big card sizes and my hands are kinda small, think about the size of a galaxy S8, because of this i have a tricky time trying to shuffle my deck. I'm looking for smaller ones with art i feel is right for me but it might take some time.
So what ways do you shuffle yours? Are there techniques yoi know of which might be helpful? Thanks for any advice given!

Men, do you ever suffer from imposter syndrome? How do you overcome it?

Hey guys.
I'm turning 30 in a few months. I have a good career. I work in data analytics.
Up until I was 25 I failed at everything. The best paying jobs I had was working as a pizza delivery guy.
I flunked out of school, had to take so many night and summer classes. I was almost put into special ed as a kid because I couldn't learn.
I managed to get a Bachelor's in Communications at my local University somehow. 3.6 GPA. I was drunk most the time and took it as a joke.
After graduating I switched to hospitality and all of a sudden I found some drive at 25 and got into night auditing. Horrible jobs still and it made me miserable working graveyard.
I then got into the casino industry. Fireworks happened. I got promoted 3 times in a year and a half and became the lead data analyst for the marketing department.
That all happened when I was 27 or so. I had no background in data and felt like I didn't belong. My manager would mock me a bit and talk about his decades of experience in Tableau or SQL.
In that time though I taught myself Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and now I can write a decent amount of formulas and SQL. I'm not trying to brag, I just loved it and taught myself lots of data programs in that time.
Now at 29 I just got another job working as a lead data developer in healthcare. I feel somewhat like an imposter due to not having any school experience. Has anyone else had these issues? I taught myself everything. Is this worse or better in my field? How do I overcome this?

Bad Night at Wendigo's

Carver meets Sarkon in the Decadence-Den at Wendigo's Casino. It is built upon a desecrated Tzikvik burial ground. Murals in the distinctive Tzikvik-style, mixed zig-zags and cross-hatchings. Gaming-table dead centre. Ceremonial masks and hunting implements line the walls. Subarctic storms howl outside. A columbian mirage of the Indus. They say the Tzikvik are survivors from Lemuria. That their souls died with the birth of photography. Potlatch engulfed them. Genocided, drunk, and broken, washing up ruins like Joe Wendigo. But then, in this business, bad publicity is free advertizing. When you hear Joe Wendigo laugh you find yourself believing in hell. It's all coming back. Genocide nemesis storm-twisted through ghost-regions. Tappings into the old powers. Ragings. Howlings. He attributes it to his warped maternal line. Mother a lunatic. Grandmother a spirit-switcher. Great-grandmother a regional oracle. It's funny the way it goes. Her mother was probably god (that's when he laughs). He tells you how he got his name. They always said he was a monster. Destined to prey on his own. Tobacco-gangster at sixteen. Now he's rich (living off probability). Wendigo lore varies confusingly, even in its core features. It includes an elemental linkage to the wind, temptations to feed on one's own kind, wider madnesses, burnt-feet and bleeding-eyes, moss-eating abominations, many things intrinsically indefinite. The Wendigo chews shelter to pieces. It combines cutting-winds and derangements. Screech-breath. Quasiphrased unwords. Insinuating itself between you and the storm. It really fucks you up (Joe laughing again). Weaving through click-chattering roulette tables. Most likely it's a cannibalistic demon of bone-gnawing horror. There's nothing more twisted. After all, how frightening is the weather? (Laugh). Everything checks red and black. When you hear the wind ache as it twists you're it. So they say. Gestural languages. Outside betting on psychometeorological bad-medicine. Shrieking. When you think like the weather the Wendigo comes. It's difficult to concentrate. Turbular disintegration of self. Double or quits. Psychotic dissociations. Granulation into $10 chips. Coincidence. Shredding nightmares. Endlessly feeding. Chop-ups. (Laugh). That's Joe Wendigo. His mother never spoke much. Insubstantial subsentences. Continuously lapsing back, as he weaves. Artificially drugged into ceaseless fractioning. Self-scattering, whilst outside it screams. Northern weather. Turbulence. Ghosts of a broken people (dead with the new century). Crushed-drunk. Anytime soon, something horrible will happen here. That's obvious (laugh)! So says Joe (don't-take-me-seriously) Wendigo. He found out how chopped-up things are today. Something truly horrible. No sense of night or day. Timeless, in that sense. A perpetual ritual of feeding. This place is like a movie-set. Twistedly authentic. It's screaming outside. That' s why they come. Honestly! They know, somehow.

Percy Jackson Disney+ Season Hypothetical Episode Number and Breakdown

Several things to note before starting:
  1. It's very likely that Disney will follow a similar format to the Mandalorian, so the show will have either 8 or 10 episodes. For this breakdown, I did 10, but 8 is also a likely possibility. So, some things might be condensed or cut.
  2. Again, Disney will likely follow the Mandalorian format and have each episode be between 30-40 minutes each. One or two might get a full hour.
  3. Rick has made it clear that this show will not be a page by page retelling of the books. He wants a product that will be appealing to new viewers and surprise hardcore fans. So there will be new things added and things cut (my money's on parts like Crusty's Water Beds). But the show will be loyal, so expect the general story beats to follow the book. If the movie and the musical featured those beats, the show will 100% do it as well.

Episode I: Percy’s introduction, field trip to the museum, his expulsion.
Episode II: Percy seeing the Fates, his home life, Percy and Sally’s trip and the battle with the Minotaur
Episode III: The introduction of Camp Half-Blood, Annabeth, Dionysus, the cabin tour and Luke.
Episode IV: Adjusting to life at Camp, Capture the Flag, the Oracle and leaving Camp.
Episode V: The bus attack and the fight with Medusa.
Episode VI: Camping in the woods (Grover’s backstory and hunt for Pan), the Gateway Arch, Chimera Battle and Percy receiving the pearls.
Episode VII: The diner, Ares and Waterworld,
Episode VIII: Percy and Annabeth’s conversation on the truck, The Lotus Casino, they escape and reach LA. (Crusty’s Water Beds. Possible here or cut)
Episode IX: The Underworld (meeting Charon, traveling the Styx, Grover is dragged to the edge of Tartarus, meeting Hates and discovering the bolt, and escaping the Underworld, confronting Ares)
Episode X: Wrap-up: The Battle with Ares, returning the bolt to Zeus, Percy speaks with Poseidon, reuniting with Sally, Gabe’s ultimate fate, returning to Camp Half-Blood. The Luke revelation, Percy recovers and decides to return home.

Senator-elect aims to teach Congress about Bitcoin, what could we expect from such a move?

An incoming Senator believes bitcoin is a better store of value than paper money and plans to teach Congress how to use it to reduce the national debt.
Senator-elect Cynthia Lummis told the What Bitcoin Did podcast that bitcoin is a better store of value than paper money and she plans to teach Congress how to use it to reduce the national debt when she assumes office in January. The senator, reportedly said, "If we reach the point where we have overspent so much that things start crashing down, the black swan event occurs with any regard to any fiat currency...there is a backstop available to every government in the world and that backstop is bitcoin," Lummis said.
The senator-elect also said that bitcoin is a better store of value than paper money because the cryptocurrency's supply is finite. Bitcoin is indeed the currency of the 21st century, gone is the era of plastic money which has several flaws (e.g. being centralized and traceable). The Blockchain has several innovative dapps like online decentralized casino, EarnBet which seeks to overthrow traditional casinos, Chain-link which has untamperable oracle services, and best of all, Ethereum which allows developers to create an app using its technology. Recently, even Coca-Cola expressed an interest in using its mainnet, showing its untapped potential and massive application.
Lastly, bitcoin is inflation-proof and there is a direct correlation between an economy's inflation and the use of cryptocurrencies. For example, a decent population of Venezuela uses cryptocurrencies as they have finally realized how 'redundant' fiat is and inflation can distort is function of acting as money, i.e. serving as a store of value. The pump is only getting started!

Kylin AMA recap — with Crypto Society -28 December 2020 Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO

Link to AMA Recap
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Let’s do it!
Bilo 2000
It’s our pleasure to have you with us today, Dylan Dewdney, Kylin Network’s CEO. I would like to welcome you here on behalf of our entire community.
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Thanks so much and look forward!
Bilo 2000
Could we begin with a brief history of yourself and your team, and your roles at Kylin Network and what you were doing before Kylin Network?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
I’ll try and keep it brief, though it’s a pretty long story tbh:
For me:
1) I wanted to be an academic, and I was really interested in revolutions and social movements throughout history. In paradigmatic revolutions, ideas about Hegelian Dialectics, punk ethos, the Situationists, etc.
2) Started to get into ideas about value in online life in 2006–7
in game currencies and economies
etc.
then discovered BTC randomly in late 2010
Shelved it in my mind then came across it again late 2011, and just got progressively more involved in the space/industry
Lots of twists and turns
That’s me in a nutshell. Re: the team:
We are a pretty deep group, and I am unsure of other groups in Polkadot space at least with as many heavyweights involved
We were all sort of biding our time until a technical framework came along that we felt could comprehensively, and economically solve the Oracle Problem.
We felt that was Polkadot. When the time was right, we struck.
Bilo 2000
Thanks for indulging — Always interested in hearing about revolutionaries like you and many in this ecosystem :)
Can you tell us about why you thought Kylin Network needed to be built and what problem it solves?
How did Kylin Network start?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
I felt that the Oracle Problem needed to be solved, that is, how do we connect real world events and info to the chain?
I didn’t think it could be solved adequately until Polkadot came along. I think the idea was that ERC-20 / ethereum was the route to a lot of this, but the technical team there really sat a lot tbh. I know this because I know people close to the highest levels of that team and some people were literally just chilling for a while.
Bilo 2000
Nice! — thanks
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
I might be speaking out of turn, but we needed a framework and we needed a technical innovation in order to unlock the potentiality of an economical oracle solution
That was contained in Polkadot — there are still some major challenges ahead, but the basic way forward of a shared relay chain is the correct way IMO
Bilo 2000
How would you describe Kylin Network if you were talking to someone unfamiliar with digital assets?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
If they were completely unfamiliar with digital assets, I’d say, well, you know google and Facebook are ad companies, right? And these companies form an overall global economy based on the buying and selling of data. Well, what if this buying and selling of data was not centralized? What if companies could monetize any sort of data they wanted, or hook into premium data feeds and squeeze value where they couldn’t before?
Bilo 2000
Very interesting
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
That’s what Kylin represents in the long-term vision.
The low-hanging fruit and the easier part quite frankly is enabling the DeFi world in crypto, which depends on reliable price feeding. If I’m selling apples, I need to know how much people will pay
We help people have a reliable picture of the price of apples
Bilo 2000
Thanks — great explanation!
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
my pleasure!
Bilo 2000
Some more technical questions here:
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
please
Bilo 2000
If you run a validator or nominator on either Polkadot or Kusama, does that increase your chances to be able to run a Kylin validator in the earliest stages of Kylin Network?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Well, yes, in a circumspect, way, though
We have a vetting process to become part of the first round of validators and one of the indicators would likely be that
Bilo 2000
Since you are building as a project in the DOT ecosystem: what are your plans for the rococo testnet, and eventually for the DOT parachain auctions in 2021? What is your goal and how do you intend to achieve it?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
As soon as the POC testnet is done, we will press forward.
With respect to the parachain auctions, we are gathering resources for a massive shot at this IMO.
The goal is to get to parachain, of course, but the biggest goal is use and use cases and people getting value out of what we are up to.
Bilo 2000
As a decentralized data network, and mainnet en route for q1 2021 are there already established use-cases, i.e. concrete partnerships in the sectors that you list as possible applications on your main site, that you could reveal or describe?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Just to be clear, mainnet is probably late q2 (if not q3)
Established use case is clear: traditional oracle services for which we have already announced many partnerships (and more to come!): tidal, reef, deficliq, etc. etc.
Bilo 2000
Ok — good to know — thanks for correcting that
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
These projects are willing to partner based on this use case alone as we are able to provide oracle services extremely economically (i.e. we will likely power our own basic price feed)
With respect to use cases outside of price feeding for defi — there are some concrete things we’ve been discussing with partners: i.e. helping them monetize idle data and data sets behind a KYL-enabled paywall. A lot of the info at the command of these projects is extremely valuable.
Bilo 2000
Thanks — I will get to some of the oracle type question further on in the conversation
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
In addition, there are cool innovation paths that — to some extent — have value to society that can’t really be measured in crypto or dollars like validating election outcomes, or unfettering the concentration of wealth to the centralization of the internet
Bilo 2000
That’s great and actually leads down a path where I personally am seeing more and more adoption of social benefits rather than only financial ones. Good on you and your team!
love your gifs btw :)
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
One thing that I’m particularly keen on helping to kick-start is the monetization of genomic data
Bilo 2000
That requires a high level of privacy — how do you address that?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
People can literally start potentially whole companies on the basis of an ideation within Kylin
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
One of the bottlenecks is that indeed.
Bilo 2000
Fair enough — very glad to see that it’s an acknowledged challenge which only means it’s something you view as essential
Bilo 2000
When it comes to Application Scenarios, Kylin mentions “automatic payment of insurance such as flight delay insurance” and “off-chain real-time price data” as well as “casinos and games.” Are you engaged with non BC real world companies in relation to these scenarios and if so can you tell us more, even some names if possible please?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Kylin allows a framework whereby data can be bought and sold in a decentralized way. This element has been missing previously, so projects like these:
https://www.labiotech.eu/genomics/blockchain-control-genomic-data/
have had sort of a basic issue in the past that they’ve needed some framework to address this, but they just haven’t until now
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
So these companies have a way to actualize your genomic data, but not really an effective way to address market creation in a decentralized manner
Bilo 2000
What is the Kylin token used for? Can you describe the Tokenomics?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
This is actually a slow process getting enterprise-level (non-BC) companies involved. You typically need to get engaged with their innovation departments and/ or BC inno deps. If they have them. We are starting those convos now
But yes, it looks very promising that an insurance company would like to get in front of something that could easily erode an aspect of their business (flight insurance). In this example, Kylin would be driving the results to know when payouts would, occur in a highly efficient flight insurance application of some kind.
Bilo 2000
Thanks for your detailed answers
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Kylin token is:
1) staking and arbitration of nodes, 2) access — for example behind a paywall 3) governance
Bilo 2000
Thanks — what percentage of the total supply is already sold and what are the plans for the public trading coming up?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Approx. 17% of tokens are spoken for either through investment or advisory
Bilo 2000
Thanks — Do you know when the token will be made available for buying/trading and where?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Re: public trading, in all likelihood we will list on a tier 1 or 1.5 exchange with a concurrent liquidity event (I personally like Polkastarter a lot).
The timing for this is still Jan/Feb.
Bilo 2000
That’s fantastic! Looking forward to this
What is the most powerful narrative which drive tokenomics in the current zeitgeist of DeFi and desire for yields?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Greed
Bilo 2000
hahahahahahaha
moving on ;)
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
True though, no?
haha
Bilo 2000
Very true!!! lol
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
I think despite that, though (and less cynically), is the narrative that sees DeFi to finance as basically what email was to postal services
Bilo 2000
Is Kylin Network disruptive and if so how so? & Would you consider Kylin a competitor to Chainlink or other oracles?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
I see us as more constructive than disruptive in the sense that we are not really trying to say, ‘hey we are disrupting this or that established industry” — it’s more like we are building something entirely new.
We are laying out an entirely new path toward a globalized, decentralized data economy that people will imagine on. Kylin is a sandbox, ultimately.
Not directly, no, though we certainly include these services and it’s very likely that if we achieve everything we want to we would be a natural choice for anyone wanting them
Bilo 2000
Does what your building compete with other oracles though or does your oracle do something different that they don’t?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
We compete directly in the sense we accomplish same function. I think the way we do it is more robust and ultimately more sustainable in the long-term bc of where we are building — Polkadot. Oracle services are going to be pretty cheap very soon I think. The more important play IMO is actualizing the overall data economy
Though most people focus on the oracle + defi dynamic
Bilo 2000
Thanks — That’s perfect. Its more interesting to investors I think to see new projects competing with the older ones — This drives re-innovation as well
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Agreed
Bilo 2000
Speaking of which, there are several Oracles both on DOT and other platforms. Some of these are giants like Link, Band etc. All these projects will compete against each other for the available market share. Is there a way to collaborate with the competitors rather than compete for the market share pie?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
I don’t think we need to tbh — and I see obsolescence for any project focusing only on oracle
Bilo 2000
Clear — Thanks
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
The thing is that, logically, why would you not, all things being equal, use a handful of oracles?
Bilo 2000
Could you please provide us with some challenges Kylin has faced but overcome?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Definitely the beginning. Just establishing that we were a real, legitimate project could be tough. You can take it personally at times. Then the web 3 grant. Pitching our first advisory members. Getting our first funders. The daily challenges both personal and professional that always intervene.
Bilo 2000
I’m sure this was not easy
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
We were extremely strategic, that said, about our timing and the market conditions and focus on oracle + Polkadot definitely have helped
Bilo 2000
This might be tied to the question above, but as we all understand oracles face this problem of high costs and difficulty in feeding off-chain data. Could you please expand on how Kylin is looking to break through this problem?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
and in this space, it’s a nail-biting procedure not rushing investment (to get the right investors), but knowing how volatile everything is too, and some broader macro thing could happen making that super hard
The issue is technical — it’s a sequential chain on ethereum: everyone is in line to get their lunch at the cafeteria, which tries to serve a variety of ok food at once to the broadest possible audience (and as anyone who has tried the meatloaf will know, it’s ok, but nothing amazing). The parallel-ness of Polkadot is more like a bunch of food trucks that share a power source and serve each person in a specific way to their needs: taco truck, burgers, Chinese, etc. etc.
Most prosaic and accessible way I can put it
Bilo 2000
That’s perfect — Concise and well explained as usual 😁
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
To extend that analogy further so it really makes sense:
Say the cafeteria has a pizza day, well, lines will be long
Pizza day is interest congestion
Bilo 2000
hahaha — You’re making me hungry now 😋
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Haha anyway, clearly haven’t eaten yet
But yeah, there’s a problem of throughput in providing oracle services via eth
But, yeah, in Polkadot, another food truck (serving pizza) just rolls up and parks
Bilo 2000
Who are you primarily targeting as a consumer of the products and services that Kylin will offer? Government, Business, or retail markets?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
All tbh — there’s no ultimate primary target, per se. in the beginning, we will be working through Kylin Labs primarily to drive use cases within crypto-oriented businesses, but concurrently, we will drive conversations with paths to traditional business, banking, etc. everybody needs useful, validated data, and/or can sell it
The same way that defi operationalized idle crypto assets, Kylin will operationalize idle data
Bilo 2000
Ok thanks — its good in that you have a wide horizon of possibilities
How are you with time? How much time do you have left for us?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
8 minutes
Bilo 2000
ok — will rush through😰
Out of your ecosystem fit partners you have listed on your website and in your white paper(the same 6 in both places, with the addition of Phala on the website), you have publicly announced partnerships with a few of them. Have you been in contact with all of them about future collaborative efforts?
Can you tell us why the newly announced partnership with Plasma play is important and can you let us know if there plans for more such partnerships in the future?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
…Unfortunately — this AMA has been awesome so far
Bilo 2000
No worries mate — If you can’t answer a question now; you can answer it later if you are rushed.
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
Those examples were more how we saw ourselves evolving — i.e. potential ecosystem. In any case, we are on the mark, and I do expect them all to probably become integrated as time goes on.
Bilo 2000
Thanks Dylan — Do you wish to let us know anything else that was not covered in the questions above?
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
and yes, we are close to every crypto project listed there
Plasma Pay is important bc we see us co-evolving really well together
no, I think we are pretty good!
Bilo 2000
Thank you for your time in answering our questions here today. We are all very appreciative of your time and of the answers you have provided.
Kindly choose the question you found the most interesting so that we can provide the person that asked that question with the prize.
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO
It’s been a total pleasure
Bilo 2000
With this, we will open up the chat for those who wish to personally thank you for your time with us here today.
Dylan Dewdney | Kylin Network — CEO

Kylin Network — The Polkadot Oracle In The New Era

Kylin Network — The Polkadot Oracle In The New Era
Link to Medium Article
DeFi refers to “decentralized finance”. In the world of blockchain, it is also called open finance. Its goal is to subvert the traditional financial service system and promote the arrival of a new era of digital economy, so that everyone can obtain great economic freedom. It can be said that the emergence of DeFi is a perfect integration of decentralized technology (blockchain) and the modern financial industry. it has spawned a series of innovative applications in many traditional scenarios such as securities trading, lending, and insurance, and has triggered the craze in the crypto world.

https://preview.redd.it/19y0m30qkt661.png?width=875&format=png&auto=webp&s=19f21c260fc885573d6e842d9562d2bc06aeb4d9

1. DeFi and oracle pain points

Decentralized finance(DeFi) and the decentralized lending services it contains are widely used and hyped in the world of encrypted assets. However, every underlying protocol of decentralized finance requires asset prices for operation and guidance. The correctness of the price has become the decisive factor for the smooth operation of the entire financial system, and the oracle is the key to providing price input data for the DeFi system.
The function of the oracle is a means to provide off-chain data for on-chain smart contracts. Under ideal circumstances, the oracle should be a trustless system, as long as it can operate normally according to specific decentralization principles. At the same time, the oracle needs to have the following four characteristics:
  • Accuracy: the prices can accurately reflect market prices
  • Timeliness: the prices can react quickly to the changes in market prices
  • Cost of attack: cost of manipulating the prices is extremely high
  • Decentralization: the price is generated and verified in a decentralized and permissionless system
However, for the oracle existing projects, it is difficult to solve all the four issues above whether using Chainlink, Augur or Gnosis. The oracle system Kylin Oracle built on the Polkadot network will solve the pain points of DeFi and oracle projects through its own unique design concept and operating mechanism, and provide real-time market data and social data for participants in the decentralized network.

2. What is Kylin?

Kylin Oracle is a universal oracle protocol. Its main function is to build an on-chain data warehouse through decentralization and trustlessness, and to provide accurate social data and market data to various DeFi applications and blockchain projects.
Kylin Oracle is characterized by providing reliable, efficient and trustless solutions for the off-chain data application. Kylin Oracle, which is built on Substrate, will be connected to the Polkadot ecosystem in a parachain, sharing the underlying consensus of the Polkadot, operating in a fully decentralized and highly scalable manner, and ensuring the security and network performance of the protocol.
Kylin Oracle encompasses 5 entities, including Data Consumer, Data Warehouse, Oracle Node, Arbitration Node and Blockchain Node. These five entities represent the major components of Kylin’s architecture. The details and the relationships, represented by the arrows, wit one another is as follows:

https://preview.redd.it/vjyci8xakt661.png?width=1403&format=png&auto=webp&s=083ddd53167252522b5cc8010c3e96c6ced61dc3
As shown in the figure, five roles form a data request model in Kylin Oracle:
  • The data request is generated by the data consumer, which is uploaded to the data warehouse through on-chain transactions, and the Oracle Node is encouraged to process the required data through incentives
  • After receiving the service fee paid by the data user through KYL, the data warehouse locates the data user by tracking the on-chain transaction, and then broadcasts to the off-chain oracle network
  • The oracle node transmits the data it has discovered and the proof of calculation to the Arbitration Node. When the data meets the arbitration standard, it will be transmitted to the data warehouse. The data warehouse stores the data and pays tokens to the oracle nodes which provide the data
In order to solve the privacy and security issues of the oracle network, Kylin Oracle introduced Kylin Oracle Transport Access Control (KTAC) and Kylin Oracle Real-time Transport Protocol(KRTP) technology to solve similar problems. Among them, KTAC technology is implemented using software application library endpoints, including to provide participants with non-connected permissions and confidential control to ensure personal privacy, modular and easily auditable consensus protocol. KRTP is based on the improvement of the real-time transmission protocol to ensure the security and verifiability of information transmission.

3. Kylin Token Economics

Kylin Oracle designed a unique economic incentive model to ensure fair distribution of benefits among participants.
  • The oracle node and the arbitration node need to stake KYL: the more KYL staked, the more data requests will be allocated, and underperforming or malicious actors will lead to the reduction of their staked tokens
  • Token is the main intermediary of transaction behavior: KYL tokens will be used to pay as a transaction, query fee, and dedicated API access fee
  • On-chain governance: KYL Token holders are able to vote for the protocol upgrades and parameter changes on Kylin Network to ensure that the oracle network realizes a truly decentralized decision-making power.
At the same time, Kylin Network introduced two functional designs: Verifiable Random Function (VRF) and Optimal Ranking Zone Model (ORZ). The former requires that different data requests will be assigned to different collaborative groups to ensure the fairness and effectiveness of data processing, and to ensure the decentralized characteristics of the entire system operation; the latter uses the jump ranking weighting algorithm to replace the weighted average to calculate the staking share of tokens to avoid the oligopoly caused by the concentrated holding of KYL by large households.
Finally, in order to ensure the authenticity and availability of data, Kylin Oracle has designed a unique challenge mechanism. Any validator can challenge existing inactive miners by staking tokens. The challenger needs to stake 1.2 times KYL of the challenged. Once the challenge is successful, the challenger will be rewarded with 20% KYL slashed from the staking of challenged. If the challenge fails, the challenger’s staked KYL will be directly burnt. The authenticity standard of the data is that the price data provided by the verifier does not deviate from the real-time price at the time of quotation by 5%.

4. Kylin’s application and vision

Kylin Oracle mainly has the following six application scenarios:
Decentralized insurance automatic payment The decentralized insurance platform can obtain various on-chain and off-chain data by connecting to the Kylin oracle machine to complete the judgment and automatic payment of insurance activities. Stable coins and crypto derivatives Stablecoins and encrypted derivatives need to frequently obtain off-chain real-time price data. Kylin Network can obtain reliable data in multiple scenarios in real time and efficiently. Crypto asset lending platform Kylin Oracle can provide off-chain information including real-time and reliable currency prices, interest rate levels, and borrowers’ social information to the on-chain lending platform Cross-chain decentralized exchange The lightweight Kylin Network interface that can be deployed on multiple chains provides the possibility for decentralized exchanges to realize cross-chain atomic transactions. Decentralized casinos and games Kylin Network random number engine provides unpredictable and verifiable random number generation. Blockchain computing market Commercial computing such as machine learning training models and 3D rendering needs to complete a variety of complex computing tasks. Kylin Oracle serves as a bridge to provide verifiable and unlimited off-chain computing functions for the blockchain computing market.
Kylin Oracle built through the Polkadot network will superimpose a unique token economic model and governance mechanism by utilizing the characteristics of Substrate to solve current project pain points and effectively improve the existing oracle ecosystem.
